Web/Social Media

Social Media Storytelling:

I see social media journalism as just valuable as print or web. It allows for greater timeliness, and enables coverage of events that might not warrant an entire story. Social media is just another tool in a journalist's belt, and I try to use it to its full extent.

Snapshot - Mountain Biking

On Dec. 12 of last year, I packed a camera into my school backpack with a single hoodie as padding and rode my bike to one of the rockiest trails in Marin. Once I arrived, I got up close and personal with riders on the Redwood Mountain Biking team, watching as they summited hills and mountains under a layer of thick fog. Having taken so many great photos, I thought a visual-focused social media slideshow would be the most engaging medium to share this experience with the Bark's audience, and that decision paid off with an exciting final product.

Social Media Slideshow - Open House

Me and my Barkie (class partner) Adela decided to cover Redwood High School's open house as on Instagram, as it would benefit from the social media format. Being an event with a lot to see, the visual focused "slideshow" style of a social media post was well suited to cover it.
